Installing Drive

To install Drive for the first time, follow the instructions in this section.

To upgrade an existing Drive installation, see Upgrading Drive.

Before installing Drive, obtain (from your system administrator) the URL and username/password credentials for at least one Aspera transfer server that you will use with Drive.

  1. Download and open the Drive disk image:

    AsperaDrive-version.dmg

    The Drive application appears in a Finder window.
  2. Drag-and-drop the Drive application to the desired location (such as the desktop or the Applications folder).
  3. Launch Drive.
    Go to where you placed the application and double-click it.
    A wizard opens, for adding an account for use with an Aspera transfer server.
  4. Use the Account Wizard to create an account for use with an Aspera transfer server.
  5. Enable the extensions that provide some Drive functions from the Finder interface.
    1. From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
    2. Go to Extensions > All.
    3. Ensure that for Aspera Drive, the Share Menu extension is enabled.
