Configure and Test a Connection

To configure transfer connection between your client and the transfer server, you use the client's Connection Manager to record the server's IP address, and the name and password for the user account on the server that you set up for transfers. You then initiate a simple test operation, and save the configuration.

  1. On the client machine, start the client with the command asperascp.
  2. Select Connections.

    The Connection Manager dialog opens.

  3. Select the + option (in the upper left).

    The New Connection pane appears.

  4. Add the server's IP address.
  5. Add the user name and password of the user (on the server) that is being used for transfers.
  6. Click Test Connection.

The client should connect with the HST Server. If it does not, check the write permissions on the transfer directories, firewall settings (if necessary), and your SSH connection.

  7. Click OK to save your connection configuration and close the Connection Manager dialog.

Your new connection is now listed under Connection Name in the client UI.
