Sending Packages to External Email Addresses

Configure IBM Aspera Faspex to allow users to send packages to external email addresses not associated with a Faspex account.

  1. Go to Server > Configuration > Security and find the Outside Email Addresses section.
  2. Select the checkbox labeled "Allow sending to external email addresses:" and set the Default to "Allow".

This option determines whether the ability to use public submission URLs is enabled or disabled by default for all user accounts. When set to Allow, all Faspex users will be able to send to external email addresses by default.

An Administrator can enable or disable this feature for specific users from the Accounts page, while still retaining the server-wide setting of allowed or denied.

  3. Configure expiration options for sent packages.
Tip: If the "Expire after full package download:" checkbox is selected, the package link will expire after one (1) download (which applies when the link is forwarded, as well). After the first download, the package must be resent for the recipient to be able to download the package again.
All your Faspex accounts should now be able to send emails to external email addresses.
Important: You may encounter the following error when you send a package to an external recipient: "Package Creation Failed: Invalid recipient: user@..." This error occurs if a user account in the system has a name identical to the email address of the external recipient. For example, if there is a user named "support@asperasoft.com", sending a package to an external recipient at "support@asperasoft.com" results in the above error.
