Taking Snapshots

The Orchestrator UI provides a utility to take a snapshot of Orchestrator. A snapshot is a backup of all your scripts, capsules, configuration files, plugins, plugin configurations, licenses, and database tables (both table structure and table data). Snapshot functionality is commonly used for the following use cases:

  1. Click Engine > Snapshot, then click New snapshot.
    The Save New Configuration Snapshot dialog appears.
  2. Provide the information needed to identify and store your snapshot, click Take snapshot.


    During the snapshot process, the entire backup is compressed into a .snap file. In the example above, a file called demo.snap is created and stored in the directory /tmp. The default directory for .snap files is the Orchestrator Archive directory (see Orchestrator Directory Locations for more information.
