Upgrading a Single Node to the Current Release of Orchestrator

Orchestrator is installed with an .exe file.

  1. Before upgrading Orchestrator, review product release notes.
Aspera strives to maintain compatibility from one release to the next, but sometimes we must make changes that affect a small number of customers. Review the release notes for all Orchestrator versions that have been released since your current version. In particular, the Breaking Changes section highlights changes that may require you to adjust your workflow, configuration, or usage. These issues may impact your new installation.
  2. On the Orchestrator host, stop the services.
    1. Click the Windows Start menu, and in the Run dialog enter services.msc, and click Start.
    2. In the Services dialog, check the Status column to confirm whether or not Apache HTTPD Server (Aspera), Aspera Orchestrator, and MySQL Server (Aspera) services are running (Started). If they are running, stop them by right-clicking Started and clicking Stop.
    3. Close the Services dialog.
  3. Install Orchestrator.
Obtain the new Windows installation files from IBM Aspera Downloads and follow the procedure in Installing Orchestrator.
  4. Stop the Orchestrator service.
After the installation completes, go to the Services window, right-click Aspera Orchestrator, and click Stop.
  5. Backup the VAR directly from the new installation to VAR_ORIG.
  6. Restart the Orchestrator service.
Go to the Services window, right-click Aspera Orchestrator, and click Start.
