Permissions Required for the Installation Process
In order to install Aspera for SharePoint, you must have the following:
- Permissions as a SharePoint farm administrator
- DNS administration permissions
- Active Directory permissions (to create user accounts and to add machines to the
domain)
- Administration permissions for setting up IIS
Installer Packages
The Aspera for SharePoint application is installed through
two installer packages:
- AsperaSharePointRemote-version.msi
Installs the Aspera remote web server and the Aspera monitor service.

- AsperaSharePointApp-version.msi
Installs the Aspera for SharePoint application, and a utility for configuring the
application for your server environment.
Note: This installer should be run on the SharePoint server.
Note: Aspera for SharePoint handles all Document Libraries in all subsites of a given site
collection. But each site collection requires its own installation of Aspera for
SharePoint. Therefore, this installer should be run once for each Site
Collection.
