Managing Nodes in an Organization

Note: You must be a system admin or an organization admin to perform these operations.
You can manage nodes in an organization from the Nodes tab in an organization's Settings page. Users are divided into two categories:
  • Available Nodes: Available nodes are nodes that an organization admin can directly authorize to a project or share in the organization.
  • Authorized Nodes: Authorized nodes are nodes that are part of the organization by having authorization to a project in the organization or by acting as the source node of a share in the organization.
You can filter authorized nodes into three categories:
Filter Description
All All nodes of the organization, including:
  • Nodes that are available to this organization
  • Nodes that are available to projects in the organization
  • Source nodes of shares in the organization
Through Projects Nodes that are available to a project in the organization
Through Shares Source nodes of shares in the organization

Make a Node Available to the Organization

An available node is a node that an organization admin can make available to a project in the organization or use as the source for new shares in the organization. If you are an organization admin with "see all" privileges enabled for nodes, you can make nodes outside of the organization available to this organization. If you do not have "see all" privileges, you are not able to add other nodes to the organization.
  1. Click the Available Nodes link and click click Add.
  2. Select a node from the list of node. You are redirected to the node's authorizations page.
  3. In the Available paths table, click Add and browse the node for a directory to use as the available path.
The available path permits admins to create shares from the subdirectories of that restricted path. When making nodes available to projects, admins can set a further path restriction at the project level. Restricting the path protects against unauthorized access to the node by limiting user access to a defined area of the file directory structure.
  4. Click Create.
The subdirectories of the node under the available path are now available to the organization. To remove this node from the available nodes list, select the paths pertaining to that node and Remove them.
Note: Removing all available node paths pertaining to a node does not remove the node from the list if the node is authorized at the project level or at the share level. Removing them from the projects and shares removes the node from the list.

Viewing a Node's Project Authorizations

To see user account's authorizations, select a user from any filtered list.
The node authorizations page shows the node name and the node hostname. The page also shows the node's project authorizations in the Project Authorizations table, which displays each project the node is made available to and how it is authorized to the project (Authorization Type).

Click on a project to see this node's project permissions and shares authorizations for that project.
