Creating a New Remote Group

Remote groups are groups that correspond to groups defined in the remote database of a configured LDAP or SAML configuration.
Note: You must be a system administrator or a user manager to create groups.
  1. Open the System Administration menu in Shares.
  2. Go to Groups and click New Group.
  3. Name the group.
  4. Designate this group as an admin group or a non-admin group. If you select Yes for the Admin option, all users in the group are given system admin permissions.
  5. If you have a LDAP or SAML configuration on the server, Shares requires you to select the type of group you are creating from the Remote type drop-down menu. Select either LDAP or SAML depending on the type of group you are creating.
  6. Select the LDAP or SAML configuration.
  7. Enter the Remote DN.
  8. Click Create.
