Creating a New Remote Group
Remote groups are groups that correspond to groups defined in the remote database of
a configured LDAP or SAML configuration.
Note: You must be a system administrator or a user manager
to create groups.
- Open the System Administration menu in Shares.
- Go to Groups and click New Group.
- Name the group.
- Designate this group as an admin group or a non-admin group. If you select Yes for the Admin option, all users in the group are given system admin permissions.
- If you have a LDAP or SAML configuration on the server, Shares requires you to select the type of group you are creating from the Remote type drop-down menu. Select either LDAP or SAML depending on the type of group you are creating.
- Select the LDAP or SAML configuration.
- Enter the Remote DN.
- Click Create.
