Upgrading Virtual Catcher

This procedure allows you to upgrade Virtual Catcher without any loss of data from the previous installation.

  1. Download the product installer and save it to your computer, according to Step 1 in Installing Virtual Catcher.
  2. Stop the services.
Open the Services window and stop each of the Aspera services (HTTPD Apache Server (Aspera), MySQL Server (Aspera), and Aspera Orchestrator).
  3. Back up your Virtual Catcher directories and essential files by saving them to another location.
More information can be found in Virtual Catcher Directory Locations.
In particular, be sure to save your configuration files:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Aspera\ Orchestrator\www\var\config\avc.yml
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Aspera\ Orchestrator\www\var\config\avc_desc.yml
  4. Create a file with the name force_upgrade_avc in the following directory:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Aspera\Orchestrator\www\var\config
When Virtual Catcher starts, this file alerts the system that it is undergoing an upgrade, and it reconciles the workflows, users, dashboards, and monitors. User information, such as passwords and email addresses, is preserved.
  5. Follow Steps 2–8 in Installing Virtual Catcher.
