Installing Orchestrator

Install Orchestrator as an Administrator (or any other privileged user) during the installation process.
  1. (Preliminary Step) Contact your Sales representative to obtain the Orchestrator license file.
The license filename will be in the following format:
    orchestrator-license_number.aspera-license
  2. Download the product installer.
    1. Go to http://downloads.asperasoft.com/en/downloads/27, click Windows, and select the Orchestrator installer.
    2. Click Direct download and enter the user name and password supplied by Aspera. If you have trouble locating your login credentials, contact Support.
    3. Click Save File > OK.
  3. Double-click the .exe file in your Downloads folder to launch the installation.
  4. In the welcome screen for the setup wizard, click Next.
  5. Accept the End_User Licensing Agreement by selecting I accept both the IBM and non-IBM terms, then click Next.
  6. In the MySQL Setup window, enter the MySQL root account password. Also provide the name and password for the MySQL account to run Orchestrator. Click Next.
  7. In the Aspera Service Account dialog, enter the user name (default is svcAspera) and password, then click Next.
Note: Because the service account is used to run the services for all Aspera products, including upgrades, the default user name is recommended.
  8. Choose the installation setup type; IBM Aspera recommends that you click Typical.
  9. In the Ready to Install dialog (where the ports are specified), click Install.
  10. Wait for the installation files to complete. When the completion screen appears, click Finish to complete the installation.
  11. Click the Start menu and open the Run dialog. Enter services.msc, then click OK.
  12. Make sure that Apache HTTPD Server (Aspera), Aspera Orchestrator, and MySQL Server (Aspera) services are running. Restart the services if required.
  13. Open the Orchestrator user interface.
In a web browser, go to the following URL:
    https://localhost/aspera/orchestrator/
Note: If you are accessing Orchestrator from a remote node, use the following URL instead (where orchestrator-ipaddress is the IP address or fully qualified name of the Orchestrator machine):
    http://orchestrator_ipaddress/aspera/orchestrator/

HTTP is redirected internally to HTTPS.

  14. At the login screen, enter admin (leave the password field blank) and click Log in.
  15. Enter the new account name and password.
  16. Install the Orchestrator license.
In the Update License dialog, either click Choose File to browse and upload the license file, or copy and paste the license key in the Provide License Contents text box. Click Update and validate license to install.
At this point, you can navigate to any view in the UI.
  17. Confirm that all processes are running.
Click Engine > Processes and review the Status column to confirm that all processes are running. For any process with a Stopped status, click Start to resume.
